Department of Health
The overall mission of the Cheyenne and Arapaho Department of Health is to enhance health and wellness of the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes and Native American communities by providing compassionate, comprehensive, and holistic approaches to healthcare through advocacy, education and awareness. The Cheyenne and Arapaho Department of Health provides health programs designed to assist tribal members to achieve and maintain a higher level of health status. Some of these programs provide direct services for health care, as well as prevention education. Health and wellness programs are important components of the Cheyenne and Arapaho Department of Health.
These programs are designed to address serious medical issues faced by the Cheyenne and Arapaho people, who live with physical and mental health concerns. Each individual program within the Department of Health focuses on positive changes in health practices for tribal members resulting in a more positive health status. The Department of Health continues to develop programmatic goals and objectives for the unique and special cultural needs of tribal members.
Community Health Representative Program (CHR)
The Community Health Representative (CHR) program works as an advocate and facilitator for individuals and families to gain access to comprehensive health services.
Diabetes Wellness Program
The Tribes' Diabetes Wellness Program provides a variety of services and programs to help delay or prevent diabetes diagnoses and reducing risk of complications.
Emergency Medical Services (EMS)
The Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes Emergency Medical Service (EMS) provides 24/7 emergency medical care to all eligible IHS beneficiaries as well as the general public.
The Health Education Department works to improve the quality of health of the Cheyenne and Arapaho people while also encouraging them to live healthy lifestyles.

Substance Abuse – George Hawkins Memorial Treatment Center
The Cheyenne and Arapaho Substance Abuse Program contracts with the Indian Health Service to provide help to members experiencing substance abuse-related issues.
